They provide the reas oning behind the program - purposes of the teaching. O Why should we have this particular activity? O Why should we have the activity at the time it is planned? O Why is it of value to the children? O Why will it benefit the child? O If there is no purposeful goals or objectives, reevaluation and redirection are needed. What? The curriculum is planned with the themes and activities that are developmentall

y appropriate and answer the what questions. O What activities and materials are needed to carry out the desired goals and objectives? O In effect, what will be done? How? o o How will the selected activities (what) be presented and carried out for the des ired goals and objectives (why) to be achieved? Answering this question includes preparing and planning materials and procedures , as well as gathering needed supplies and determining the approach for following through. It encourages the teacher not only to plan the activity but also to organize work. O As the teacher carefully thinks through these three questions, the curriculum become stronger. O We must know why we are doing what we are doing, and how , specifically , we will accomplish our plans. lll.
