INTERVENTION REPORT

Subject Site Location Tag Number Description Running Hour Manufacturer : Crude Oil Metering HPU Pressure Loss : FPSO USAN : Upper Deck P8 : 5-ROV-260104 : Prover Calibration 4-Way Diverter Hydraulic Rotor : NA : Shafer

1. Background History The Crude Oil Metering HPU system was reported not retaining pressure. Whenever the HPU pumps were operated and the hydraulic pressure was built up to the maximum pressure of 110bar, the pressure quickly drops within about 6 minutes to zero pressure when the pumps were stopped. Within these 6 minutes, the valve can be operated only once (upward lifting and one rotation). 2. Main finding & Troubleshooting - The HPU cabinet (TO-UH-2601) was checked for any possible leaks. The pumps, accumulators and tubings were checked and no leak was found. Also, there was no decrease in the level of hydraulic tank. The HPU was then isolated from the ROV. The hydraulic rotor was pressure tested with hydraulic pump to 110bars; the rotor failed the test. The cause of pressure loss in the system is thus narrowed to the Hydraulic rotor. The hydraulic rotor was removed and taken to the workshop for repairs. The rotor valve sleeves were found with rough edges, this was enough for the loss of hydraulics in the rotor.

INTERVENTION REPORT

All other parts and o-rings were in good condition.

The hydraulic rotor was re-kit with new repair kit. The rotor was pressure tested in the workshop at 110bars for 10 minutes and there was no loss of pressure. The hydraulic rotor was re-installed on the 4-Way valve and tested with the HPU system. The 110bars pressure was held till six operations of the 4-Way were accomplished.

3. Recommendation - The repair kit of the hydraulic rotor should be available in case of future occurrence.
