Twitter: Making you the Most Famous Person in the World Last Friday I have no idea about the current issues in local and national news. However, when I needed to use the Internet, I was shocked with the headline in Yahoo- Vhong Navarro, suspect for attempted rape. At first, it did not sink in to my mind but when I saw his picture, I was surprised. When I got home, my sister told me about the different angles and issue about Vhong. Initially, it really did not bother me. Nevertheless, I was influenced by my younger sister since she is a dancer and she idolized Vhong Navarro. I used this topic to visualize how Social Media, especially Twitter, can affect the lives o many people. After Vhong Navarro was interviewed in Buzz ng Bayan by Mr.Boy Abunda, people who were part of the said issue became trending, even just for an hour. When I opened my Twitter account, I wa amazed on how people responded on the issue. I believe that this issue had a great effect to an individual and to the society. We can see how people bashed the girl and the GMA network. We really dont know who is telling the truth, however, based on what I saw if people believe to someone they dont have to know the both side they just do and tell what they want to say because for them that their opinion. The image of the girl and of the network was damaged. People cannot undo the fact that they bashed the girl and the network. Moreover, based on my media usage, I really did not have enough media use for the last week since I was super busy doing academic stuff that did not need internet and/or media, only laptop for papers and cell phone for connecting to people.
