Pencil crayons, scissors, glue Possibly a bulletin board

Introduction: (5 minutes)
Tell the students that we will be writing a free verse autobiography poem Ask them, "What a Free Verse Poem is" Tell them, we will be doing an example as a class

Procedure: (35 minutes)


Use overhead to fillin worksheet, with help from the class (5 minutes) -explain that you only copy out the words that aren't in brackets (e.g. Brother or sister of,.....,..) Explain that the worksheets will be handed in too, and that they should check for spelling Explain that when finished filling in their worksheet (5 minutes) -pick out two eolors of construction paper -on one piece of paper, write out their poem (any way they want, as long as it's consistent and legible: e.g. slanted, horizontal, vertical, etc.) -then they cut out their poem and glue it on the other piece of paper -and if there is time at the end of the class, the class can share a few poems Have helper hand out worksheets Give them about 10 minutes to fill in their worksheet (put l0 minutes on the clock) While they are working on their worksheets, spread out the construction paper on the back table, while monitoring the class. 15 minutes to print, cut and glue As they finish they can come to the front of the class and read their poem, while the others work
