Despite popular believes and my own thought, Meteorology is a science where scientific thinking is crucial to predict weather. In this assignment we analyzed the air temperature. We all know how important temperature is in our daily life. Temperature impacts the way we dress; what we eat, the kind of activities we do, etc. Consequently temperature is the major component of climate. In order to predict temperature several factors have to be taken into consideration including; latitude, elevation, ocean currents and land and water distribution. In order to predict/analyze temperature meteorologist have to collect data and graphically analyze temperature over time using a meteorology tool called meteogram, also to understand spatial distribution of temperature they use data from weather stations to determine the location of weather fronts. Scientific thinking is simply the process of extending one's knowledge by forming a theory based on observation patterns that is then tested. Meteorology, as any other science, utilizes the scientific method in the daily or rather in the hour basis. Meteorologist often take a lot of criticism when their weather predictions are not accurate but uncertainty does not mean they are unsure; scientist measure error and report it along with findings in any scientific field uncertainty is inherent.
