History and Social Science Standards of Learning for Virginia Public Schools January 2008

Items that are highlighted are items students have been taught Grade Two Introduction to History and Social Science
The standards for second-grade students include an introduction to the heritage and contributions of the people of ancient China and Egypt and of the American Indians, past and present. Students should continue developing map skills and demonstrate an understanding of basic economic concepts. The students ill identify selected American individuals ho have orked to improve the lives of American citi!ens. The students ill recogni!e that the "nited States is a land of people ho have diverse ethnic origins, customs, and traditions, ho make contributions to their communities, and ho are united as Americans by common principles.
