It may not be a skill !or second grade or we may have worked with it in class in another way than a workbook age. 0here will be times we do work together or with mani ulatives where no a er is used. We will also use white erase boards to ractice and demonstrate learning which

I will also be dictating a sentence using several o! the high !re$uency words %listed on the <ocus Wall as well-. I check to see i! the sentence has correct unctuation and the high !re$uency words are s elling correctly. Agenda Books >very day an agenda book will come home with your son/daughter. "n it your child will have written any assignments that were given. Please go over this agenda book with your child every night. #sk him/her about the day and about any work to be com leted at home. Homework Policy Fomework is an im ortant art o! your childCs school ex erience. 2u orting good work habits re$uires a Ioint e!!ort. I will su ort your child and encourage good work habits at school. Eour child will greatly bene!it !rom your su ort and encouragement at home. I do assign homework. Fomework is noted in the agenda book. I will have students write the due date in their agenda books. ;onsistent homework will be 2 elling ractice %study word list as homework throughout the week- and reading the story in the reading book. 2ometimes there will also be 1ath homework. 0he s elling test will always be on <ridays unless otherwise noted in the agenda book. I may also send out a s ecial note, changing test days, due to holidays. Fomework activities are intended to rein!orce skills we are working on in class. Parents may hel with homeworkJ I encourage you to monitor. Fomework also teaches res onsibility)the child takes the a er home, com letes it, and returns it on time. "ur agenda books will hel a great deal with this area. 2econd grade uses a monthly Keading ;alendar. 0he calendar will be sent home with your child. We encourage Nightly reading of 15 minutes 0his should be monitored by the arent and initialed lus minutes read should be noted on the calendar. 0he story in the reader can count !or this time as well as other books you have at home or get !rom the ublic library. # sa!e lace to kee this calendar would be located in the !ront clear ocket o! the agenda book. Accelerated !eader "A!# #K books read by your child will be logged in their #K !older. "nce a student has read an #K book in their Hone, he/she should take an #K test over the book. When the student reaches a score o! &,5 or higher, he or she will get a sticker !or his/her #K chart. "nce the chart is !illed with stickers, the student will get a new chart and a healthy snack/drink. It is the goal !or all second graders to ass with &,5 or higher on their #K tests. >ach studentCs goal will de end on their own ability. 0he #K goal will be discussed and decided each nine weeks between the teacher and student. 0he teacher will monitor the studentCs rogress to ensure that the goal is

WriterCs Worksho /Grammar) students writing as authors are taught the writing rocess, I use the Write 0raits a roach o! teaching ideas, organiHation, word choice, sentence !luency, voice, and conventions %editing/revisions and grammar-. Writing #ssessments are done $uarterly using the 2im le 2ix a roach. 22P) 2chool 2uccess ProgramMthis is time to remediate and work on any common core and/or Indiana academic standards that are not mastered. ANtramathB) is a web based rogram used to increase s eed and accuracy in arithmetic.
