We want to be more than competitive at our first ever tournament in May. We want to compete and win. We need to play with tenacity, skill and consistency and we can do this with hard work at practice. Our focus will be our conditioning and our defense to make sure that concentration never falters.

Our opponents will never score easy points. We will always make them work for it. This means we must protect the ball when we have possession, force them to make shots late or from the perimeter and protect the key. Rebounds will also be an emphasis for us on offense and defense!

Our developed skills will allow us to move the ball quickly to disorientate defenses and open lanes for us to drive to the key. We must also develop our composed shot in traffic. Lay ups will be a key aspect of our game and we must develop talented shooters with long range capabilities. We will also have a high tempo to our game with strong dribbling and fast transitions.

Protect: We cannot allow easy turn overs and will retain possession with our exceptional ball-handling and passing skills. Control: Dribbling and passing will be deliberate and fundamental while still being creative. Create Scoring Opportunities: Create lanes for inside drives as well as opening free shots for shooters. Move the ball quickly: To confuse our defenders. We need to make quick but good decisions and execute correct technique. Create space: Work as a team player not an individual. Be aware of our team mates position and know where we should be. Do not crowd the ball and keep moving. Execute correct technique in areas of high traffic and pressure: In high pressure situations we will retain our technique and not panic, ensuring we retain possession, score or draw a foul. Finish off: Develop shooting skills to an autonomous level where we are always rewarded with points after working hard to get the ball into a position to shoot.

Get after EVERY loose ball: The player who wants the ball the most always gets it. We need to get after every loose ball and turn it into our possession. Support team-mates in contest: When our team-mates are in contest we will be positioned for an easy pass and support them. Rebound at highest point: We will use our height and vertical leap to make sure our hands touch the ball first when attempting a rebound and bring it in protecting the ball. Transition and assume position quickly: In the event of transition switch immediately to your other role and assume your role. Deflect to team mate: Be smart and creatively tap or deflect (if tap is required) the ball to teammate if unable to posses it cleanly. Two in at most: Only two at a time in contest so that we are not out numbered on the open court and open ourselves to easy scoring!
