Jordan Suber PPAT Task 1

Textbox 1.2.4: Rules and Procedures A) One of our classroom rules is to stay in your seat unless you have permission to do otherwise. By implementing this rule into our daily classroom behavior, we have a much calmer and structured class. Many of my students like to move, which is completely fine when doing movement activities or during breaks, restroom, recess, etc. Although while we I am providing classroom instruction it is vital for all students to be in their seats, paying attention. If one gets up without permission, others think they can as well and then the class gets out of order and rambunctious. I have used this rule all semester and it seems to help our class facilitate learning easier with no distractions. B) We have a rule that, if we have free time during the day or if a child completes his or her work early, they are allowed to use the two computers at the back of the classroom or use the promethean board for educational purposes only. One student can be at the computer at a time with no other students crowding around them. This procedure is put in place for accommodation purposes for early finishers as well as extra academic assistance by using our intervention program, Study Island. It is important that only one child is at each computer at a time, so that students are not touching or behaving inappropriately around the technology so that it is not bumped into or tipped over. C) In my class, we will use all positive reinforcement for behavioral management procedures. Points will be given to groups or individuals by following classroom rules and displaying positive character traits throughout the school day. There will be prizes given to groups or individuals either daily or weekly for positive behaviors. This will encourage students to behave in a positive and appropriate manner. During the school day, when I see students doing a great job I will say, Wonderful job Susie! or I see

that John has his Science journal out and ready to begin! This will point out the good behavior occurring in the classroom, while encouraging and motivating the other students to copy that behavior.
