The Northwest Career Partnership, Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Illinois State Board of Education and grant partners selected Wheeling High School as the lighthouse school in Illinois to develop a health careers pathway accessible to all students.
Labor Statistics (BLS) projects a 24 percent growth in jobs between 2008 and 2018nearly 4 million new jobs.
* Most healthcare jobs require less than four years of college education, although health diagnosing and treating practitioners are among the most educated workers.

Program Overview
Electives: Sports Medicine 1 & 2, Human Physiology, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Psychology, Advanced Biology
Organization of Curriculum
Year 1 (Introduction to Health Careers) and Year 2 (Medical Terminology) include a combination of curriculum that focuses on Health Science Fundamentals, Medical Terminology, Human Anatomy, and Human Physiology.
Program Outcomes
Develop the knowledge and skills as a foundation for pursuing continuing education towards a career in the healthcare industry (occupational, technical, or professional). Increase his/her education and employment opportunities through effective communication, teamwork skills, and organizational skills.
