2.3.2 PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTING In photographic printing, a design is applied to a roller and the roller app lies it to the fabric.

To create a design on the roller, a contact print is made of a photograph. The contact print is then placed onto the copper roller and a sens itizing solution is applied. A powerful light source is applied causing the sens itizing solution to heat up and attach the print to the roller. In the ne xt step the roller is washed a nd all areas not affected by the light are removed. The film left behind acts as the guide for the design being etched. Once the design is etched into th e roller, the remaining film is removed. (Wingate, 1975)
