How to Make Loom Bracelets

By: Rjanae, Jazhari, Jayden and Amaya

What you will need:

Looms Clips Your pointer finger and your middle finger

Loom bands are fun and easy to make!

3rd Grade virtual visit to Antarctica

In January, 3rd graders visited Antarctica through an internet chat. Here are some fun facts that they learned:

Its cold, but on January 23, 2014 Antarctica was warmer than Providence! Its so cold in Antarctica that you can get frostbite! Antarctica is actually a desert. A snowy desert is a dry and cold place. Antarctica is the coldest, windiest, and iciest place on earth. There are strong winds and freezing temperatures. Polar bears dont live in Antarctica, because it is so cold. Penguins live in Antarctica because the can survive there. Antarctica is great for experimenting.

1. To begin making your loom bracelets chose the two colors that you would like to use for your bracelet. 2. Start by placing one loom band on your pointer finger and twist it into an X to wrap it around your middle finger. 3. Then take another loom band and stretch it on top of the two fingers (do not twist them) that have the loom band with an X. 4. Now take the bottom loom band and place it on top of your finger, for your middle and pointer finger. 5. Take another loom band and repeat steps 3 & 4. 6. Continue adding looms until you have made a band long enough to make into a bracelet. 7. When you are finished adding the looms it is time to clip the bracelet together 8. Take the loom you started with on the bottom and add a clip to one side. 9. Then clip the other side of the bracelet.

The Gift of the Crocodile

By: Natalia, Serenity, Dameion, Koung, Jose This play was based on the book The Gift of the Crocodile. The group of kids in the play made it feel like your reading the actual book. It was really funny, because when the step sister asked for one of those old fashion skirts and the ancient crocodile came back out of the water the skirt had leaches on it and the step sister screamed and ran off stage! The play was created with puppets, costumes, instruments, and actors. Like all folktales it had a happy ending. At the end everyone who worked together went onstage and took a bow. A Review.

At the performance of The Gift of the Crocodile

I saw a play that Mrs. Cotter-Limus students put together on January 17, 2014. It was called The Gift of the Crocodile, a tale from the island of Halmahera in Indonesia. Javanese Gamelan, or Indonesian style of music, was played in the background. It was an interesting story based with puppetry. The way they moved is by a group of students moving around on the stage. I thought it was very, very cool!! - Damieon
