Discussions: 1. Complaints received: There have been no complaints received by any of the committee since the last meeting.

Action Points:

2. Review of AXM visit: The committee all thought it was a very good night, Katies bar for predrinks worked really well and there was a good turnout for an event before the term started.

We would definitely go back to AXM on a Saturday, it was a nice night. Kim to email Scott and arrange a meeting to discuss things and to get the final instalment of sponsor money

3. Campaigns Rectorship: The committee just left a meeting with Graeme Obree, GUSA and Hannah Gower, and Graeme has accepted the candidacy. We all got the feeling that he was a genuinely nice man and that he is in it for the right reasons: to represent the student body at a higher level GUSA are fully on board to help us run the campaign and to be the real drivers of the campaign We are still waiting to hear back from GUU and QMU, and Dialectics are just waiting to confirm their support Semester two Campaign: Tiffany has a few ideas and just needs to talk to Andrew about what his welfare event will be as she thinks they may cross over slightly on the topic of the Russian Olympics.

Kim, Iain, Tiffany and Anna will sit on the campaigns committee alongside the representatives from the other societies/unions. They will attend their first meeting on the 16th January.

Tiffany and Andrew to discuss their welfare and campaigns ideas and see how they can support each other/what each one will do.

4. Queerfest: Workshops: The Rocky Horror Picture Show Shadow cast: They show the film and act it out in front of it in an interactive performance. This will be a very popular event as the last Rocky Horror party was very, very popular and had a great turn out. Kim has emailed the arts and craft society to see if they will come and run a work shop this year. Colvin suggested the Encore theatre society may run a work shop/out on a performance The idea of some sort of Drag workshop was suggested last year there was the question of whether or not this would cause controversy with some members The committee also suggested some sort of dance class/workshop would be good as well as this was popular last year with members. Iain suggested a cheerleading workshop, which the rest of the committee loved and we want to go ahead with. The committee discussed what speaker they would like to have. Jo Russell was a suggested speaker, Jen Williams has a contact for her, and this would fit into our asexual programme. Lukes meditation class one hour workshop with Luke. He has run workshops before and is very professional. Venue: GUU is the ideal venue Kim to ask Lauren Shoogs what they paid last year for GUU Obviously this is all still subject to the findings of the GUU meeting with Gavin, Kim, Amy K and Andrew

Colvin to email them and see if they are willing/available to put something together for us Colvin has some contact details for the drag workshop they ran in his first year; he will give this to Kim to contact the people. Amy H to contact the cheerleading society to see if they would be willing to run this event/give us some equipment.

Mariam to put together a flyer for the Wednesday night event coming up in order to promote the event for as long as possible The committee decided that we are not going to flyer on the street this year, we are going to use all the other forms of publicity we can. Funding AXM money - 400 still to claim 875 from Polo Theme Eighties theme performance to fit in with this, Amy and Kim suggested a sort of cabaret with our members?

Route Champions, Driftwood, Flying duck, Nicos, Campus. Week Two event: The committee discussed that fact that we do not have an event for week two yet. Amy K suggested moving the pub quiz forward to week two to fill the gap. This has to be a good event as people dont have essay deadlines etc. yet. Andrew suggested changing the format of the pub quiz so it is more inclusive for new members coming for their first time. Mens/Womens/Post-Mat: The mens officer is not at the meeting. Post mat event has to happen soon, either before Anna goes, or we can get someone to run it in her absence. Womens event, self-defence class Monday 27th January. 9. GUU Re-affiliation: We are hopeful that after a meeting with GUU we can re-affiliate and work on our relationship with them. We are planning on re-affiliating with the intension that we will continue to work with them and help them grow. We understand that we will have to deal with a few complaints from members, but we will deal with them as we get them. If we are re-affiliating with them, then we accept that they are changing and we shouldnt shy away from it. 10. AOB Left over Launch Night booze: Sell, Sell, Sell. To committee members and to our friends, the sooner we can get rid of this the better; it is profit sitting gathering dust for months on end. LGBTQ in the workplace: Kim, Iain and Lauren went to a meeting about working with Morgan Stanley LGBT workers association. They have offered to come and speak to the society in a type of panel event, with representatives from other LGBT working places. Either as part of a late night talk type thing, or maybe a welfare/campaigns event.
