SYNOPSIS

A hydraulic system is a system which utilizes pressurized liquid to transmit power and motion from a source to an area of use. The versatility, flexibility, high compatibility and convenient positioning of hydraulic system makes it an useful device for application in machine tools. For the Fine oring !achine hydraulic system for work clamping device was designed to replace the manually operated device. For the machine, the movements of a saddle which were originally manually operated were converted into hydraulic operated movements. Also the manually operated work holding chuck was replaced by a hydraulic chuck. "n this pro#ect titled $%ydraulic system components in machine tools$ the basic requirement and application of hydraulic system were studied. &arious hydraulic elements necessary for successful operation, its working and specific applications were also studied. ased on the knowledge of simple hydraulic systems for machine tools, a hydraulic system for Fine oring !achine was designed. All these modifications of the machine were aimed at achieving some degree of Automation. The operation time and the strain on the operator was reduced thereby enhancing productivity along with reliability and ease of operation.
