Norfolk Public Schools, 800 E. City Hall Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23501 August 1985-Present Business Teacher/Instructional Technology Specialist/IT Department Chair Teach Computer Information Systems and Advanced Computer Information Systems to high-school and postgraduate students at the Norfolk Technical Center, ensuring students meet course competencies, earn IT credentials to validate skills, and are prepared to enter the workforce or continue their education. Provide professional development for teachers, model lessons, assist in grant writing, and mentor new teachers. Served as Team Leader for the districts CTE Graduate Follow-Up Study Team, achieving between 88% and 94% response rate, well-above the state average. Developed the Internet Safety curriculum for the high-school level and district survey to attain student, parent, and staff feedback. Led Future Business Leaders of America to regional and state recognition, including Gold Seal Chapter, Local Chapter Annual Business Report and Outstanding Regional Chapter awards. Successfully coach Great Computer Challenge teams and have volunteered for the past ten years. Secured numerous grants for improving student achievement including the Best Buy Foundation Grant award. Advise the National Technical Honor Society members and coordinated the Induction Ceremony since 1999. Served as a supervising teacher for three student-teachers and teacher mentor to new teachers.
