Climate and landscape in Europe and Spain


1. Climate and landscape in Europe Europe is a peninsula situated in western Eurasia. Types of climate and their vegetation: Polar tundra Continental coniferous forest, deciduous forest, mixed forest and steppe. Oceanic deciduous forest and coniferous forest (Norway). Mediterranean Mediterranean forest and steppe. High mountain mountain vegetation, tundra in the North and steppe in the South.

The coldest areas are situated in the North (polar climate) and the coldest ones in the South (Mediterranean climate). The great variety of natural climate and landscape in Europe is because of: - The latitude: temperate climate. - The sea influence: of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. - The relief 2. Types of climate in the peninsula: Oceanic (or Atlantic) oak, beech and gall-oak. In the North. Its mild and damp. Mediterranean olive tree, carob tree, cork oak and steppe. Along the coast in the East, in the South and in the Balearic Islands. Mild temperatures in the winter and very hot in the summer. Scarce rainfall which usually falls in the spring and in the autumn. Mediterranean with continental tendency holm-oak, gall-oak and steppe. In the peninsular interior. Cold winters. Subtropical Canary pine. High temperatures during almost all the year. Scarce and irregular rainfall. High mountain beech, pine and juniper. It is given in the main mountain ranges.

The coldest areas are in the North and the warmest ones are in the Mediterranean strip and in the Balearic Islands.
