(he !asp%erry )i was designed with students in &ind* +t was &eant to %e a cheap device that &ust students could afford to help teach the& progra&&ing* +t was designed to %e a fully functioning co&puter %ut at a very &ini&al cost* ,hen designing and %uilding the device there were &any things to consider such as how powerful it should %e and what operating syste& it would run* (hey decided to run a version of -inu.' this is %ecause it is open source' so free' and it is very light weight and centred on progra&&ing and using the co&&and line rather than a /U+* (hey also had to consider how powerful the device would %e* (he device is not very powerful however you do not notice this as for progra&&ing it is &ore then powerful enough* 0y #eeping it low power they &anaged to #eep the price very low co&pared to a regular )C* 1or a co&plete novice to any sort of progra&&ing or using -inu. the device is not very user friendly* (o set it up it re$uires so&e si&ple co&&and line options to start it* 1or anyone who has already done so&e progra&&ing this is si&ple enough' however for a novice user it could %e e.tre&ely co&plicated* 2nce you get to #now how to use the 2perating "yste& it %eco&es e.tre&ely user friendly' it %oots up very $uic#ly allowing you to $uic#ly go and edit so&ething without waiting a long ti&e* +t3s si4e &a#es it s&aller enough to carry around in a s&all %ag' as long as you have the correct ca%le you can hoo# it up to al&ost any &onitor* (his allows you to ta#e it al&ost anywhere and use it' without needing a proper &onitor or laptop* owever without a case it is not user friendly* +f you don3t %uy a case for it all the circuitry will %e e.posed so there is a &uch higher potential for co&ponents to %rea#* 5s technology i&proves and co&ponents will get %etter and &ore powerful* ,ith the current technology it would %e difficult to &a#e the hardware &ore powerful while #eeping it at a cheap price that &ost students can afford* (o help i&prove the usa%ility of the device for the everyday user there are a couple of things that they could change* (he first would %e to install so&e for& of ,i-1i capa%ility' this would &a#e it &uch easier to connect to the internet* 5nother change could %e to %oot straight to the /U+ rather then the co&&and line* ,hile co&&and line can %e &ore powerful &ost people will find the /U+ easier to understand and use* + thin# the !asp%erry )i did &eet the purpose it was designed for* +t is a fully function co&puter costing 675 dollars that allows you to learn to progra&* +t &a#es co&puters and progra&&ing accessi%le for anyone* 8ven though you cannot do a huge else a&ount on it they are cheap enough that you could %uy &ultiple ones and connect the& together to &a#e a &ore powerful device*
