TTE 536 Lesson Plan Temperature VS Heat Terminal Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will be able

e to distinguish between heat and temperature. Arizona State Standards: S5 C3 PO6 ELL Standard: ELL I V Listening and Speaking / Writing express orally his or her own thinking and ideas. (ELL-L&S-1) identify, describe, and apply conventions of Standard English in his or her communications. (ELL-L&S-2) listen actively to the ideas of others in order to acquire new knowledge. (ELL-L&S-3) express in writing his or her own thinking and ideas. (ELL-W-1) Time (minutes) 04 Sub-Objectives SWBAT describe their previous knowledge about temperature Blooms Level: Remembering, Understanding Teaching Strategies Bell work: Write a response to the objective question Using a model, describe what is temperature

Rudolfo Trevizo

Active Student Participation -Students will be provided with the objective question of the day -Students will close their eyes for 1.5 minutes -Students will think about the objective question and prepare themselves to learn -Students will be given 0.5 minutes to write a response to the objective question Students will work together in a team of four to model a temperature change using particle diagrams on a 2X3 white board Students will have a brief circle meeting to come to an agreement on how to represent a change in temperature

4 10

SWBAT model a change in temperature using particle diagrams Blooms Level: Understanding SWBAT find a pattern that is common in all white boards that describes how a change in temperature looks at the particle level

Guide students, without giving away any answers, towards a correct representation of a temperature change Make sure students have chosen a way to represent a change in temperature

10 - 15

TTE 536 Blooms Level: Understanding, Analyzing SWBAT grasp an understanding for most of what the video is trying to convey about heat Blooms Level: Understanding SWBAT, with their lab partners, draw particle diagrams that explains the difference between heat and temperature Blooms Level: Understanding, Creating SWBAT discuss amongst each other what they notice (similarities, differences, et cetera) and defend/revise their models about heat and temperature differences Blooms Level: Understanding, Evaluating SWBAT explain the difference between heat and temperature Blooms Level: Remembering

15 25

Will make sure students are respectful and on task while watching the video

Students will make observations, taking notes of what they understand, and develop questions as they arise while watching the video Students will work together in order to distinguish between temperature and heat using particle diagrams

25 40

Walk around to guide students, ask questions, and make sure students are on task

40 50

Will listen, guide, and adjust according to the students discussion only interrupting when absolutely necessary

Students will ask each other questions, point out similarities/differences, and defend or revise their particle diagrams

50 55

Will pose the question and provide students with a friendly environment to focus on their writing

Students will summarize the difference between heat and temperature in complete sentences before leaving class

Homework: Think of other forms of energy Materials Needed: - Eight 2X3 foot white boards - Sixteen dry markers - Sixteen rag or dry erasers - Eureka Video (Internet Access) - Bell work / Closure sheet out
