Cue For Treason Blogging

As you continue reading the novel, you will demonstrate your ongoing understanding and analysis by completing blog entries. For this activity, you will be a member of a class blog you will find the blog within my website: 1. Go to http://mrsbellcourses.weebly.com 2. Move the cursor over ENG 1DI (in the top right corner) CUE FOR TREASON click on BLOG. For this activity, you will actually be creating comments in response to blog postings made by your teacher. You will also be posting comments in response to your classmates posts. 3. Find the blog posting that contains your assigned topic (hint: look for your assigned group). 4. Fill in the required fields under LEAVE A REPLY the proper format for your name is First Name and Last Initial, like this: Ashley B. You must also fill in a viable email address (dont make one up). Your comments will be deleted if you do not follow the proper conventions AND you will not receive a mark for this part of the assignment. 5. You will post your response to your assigned topic in the comment box. We recommend that you type your comment in a word document and save it first, then cut and paste it into the comment box. This way, you have a record of your comment AND if the internet/website doesnt co-operate when you submit it, you can avoid starting again. 6. Your comment should be academic in nature: concentrate on addressing the topic and making a reference to the text as well as expanding your own ideas. A blog post should follow the conventions of standard English spelling, capitalization, punctuation. As this is your first time blogging for English, you may use an informal voice (e.g. I think, I feel, I believe).

Blogs are meant to be interactive; therefore, just by posting a comment you have only completed half of the job! After all of the comments are posted, you should go in and read them. Your second task is to respond to your classmates comments. For this task, you must respond to a classmate in another GROUP. 7. Go back to the blog and select the blog topic you would like to explore further (hint: you will be reading about a different topic than you wrote about). 8. Read through the comments that your classmates posted in response to the blog posting. Select one of their comments and respond to it. Consider agreeing/disagreeing with his/her comments or adding additional observations to them. Remember this is a public academic community where you are exchanging ideas, not personal remarks.

Keep the focus on the ideas and the text do not use this as an opportunity to make other comments. Inappropriate comments will be deleted and you will not receive a mark for this part of the assignment. 9. You must post one comment to one of your classmates. To get you started, we will use the netbooks in class; however, after that you are on your own to complete the comments and responses. You will complete another round of blog comments. Due dates will be announced.
