Oral Language: o If you want to focus on vocab development, specify what vocab & maybe how youll do it o Consider related skills: active reading skills, motivational skills, etc. & be specific Phonics: o Looking to see that skill makes sense given students reading level

Description of Activity
Book Titles: o 1-2 (maybe 3) book titles and level number (including MCP level). Word Bank Activity: o Targeted words which new ones introduced, which ones you want to focus on o Specify activity names; opportunities to both decoding AND encoding o Primary source: high freq words test, generally irregular words o Contrastive analysis for internalizing words/rules; not more than 1-3 new words Phonics Activity: o Looking to see that skill makes sense given students reading level o Generally, regular, decodable words. Not more than 2ish sounds to contrast o If Beck, give a couple sample words Book Title: o Single book title and level number (including MCP level). o Why you chose this book (e.g. focuses on /ay/ sound, including haystack, say) o Hopefully new book is related to phonics skill 5-10 min 10-15 min

Introducing the Book: o Picture walk, other introductory activities During Reading: o Appropriate strategy-based upports youll offer After Reading: o Specific comprehension type questions Key Vocabulary:

o Words that are difficult for child to decode, or key concepts in book

o What writing prompt did you give student? Why? (What skill did you hope/want prompt to invite?) o What sentence did student write. o Opportunity to express ideas and write complete sentences

o Appreciate explanations of your thoughts/rationale about where youre going o Childs successes, difficulties & adaptations youve made in response to your individual student, especially around phonics focus o Specific motivational and reading comp ideas In general, the more specific, the better. o Contrastive analysis for internalizing words/rules o Multiple ways to practice read, write, spell, etc.
