Letter of Recommendation Alexis Bautista September 26, 2013 To Whom It May Concern, I am writing this letter regarding Alexis

Bautista whom I have known for about 10 years. I am writing as a family friend and as a professional educator for the Salt Lake City School District. As the Director of Exceptional Child Services serving both gifted and special education populations I am trained to recognize talent and diagnose student needs. I have seen Lexis personality unfold and talents emerge as she makes choices in her life. Lexi shows natural ability with problem solving skills. She is grounded and self confident. She is a feminine young woman yet strong in traditional male dominated areas - science, technology, math and engineering. She is a fix it gal - fully athletic, strong and assertive. Lexi would be considered a well rounded female not afraid of challenge in any area. Lexi has had unique experiences with culture embracing a fully Spanish and English speaking extended family. She has integrated the best of all cultures into diversity awareness and sensitivity. Her father passed away at a young age and Lexi assimilated this difficult experience into compassion and awareness that deepened her empathy for others. Lexi shows solid family connections with respect and sacrifice. She is a loving and supportive sister to her siblings. She will bring this skill of understanding to the work force in the future contributing to society. Lexi has been involved with clubs while in High school including Student Council, 2nd Year Science Fair, Cottonwood High School soccer and Interact club of community service. Courses taken:Freshman - Geometry and AP Geography;Sophmore - AP Europe, Math 2H; Junior - AP psychology, AP U.S. History, Math 3H, Chemistry H, English 11H; Senior - Univ. of Utah 10/50, 10/60; U of U writing 10/10, 10/20; U of U Humanities. Lexi stands out from other students by being a refreshing balance of a healthy, sociable, athletic young woman while demonstrating talent in science and math as an accepted student at the science, math and technology Charter School located at Cottonwood High. She has strong social skills and fits well in a variety of arenas. She doesnt have to try to impress people - she is natural and real avoiding behaviors that lack good judgement. Lexi is likeable by being genuinely interested. Shes a gifted athlete - jumps in - can let her hair down and doesnt quit. She smiles with a zest for life. Lexi embraces excellence and ever since I have known her she seeks high standards. She is able to understand that her choices lead her to her goals which is unusual for one so young. I would highly recommend Lexi for any academic endeavor and opportunity for higher learning. She will be a leader in her field and will dedicate herself to her area of concentration. She shows high character, good judgement, self discipline and natural aptitude. Kathleen Gilmour kathy.gilmour@slcschools.org 801 578 8144 Ext.129
