THEME: World of Knowledge TOPIC: Precious Drop ( Phonemic Awareness : ew, oe ) OBJECTIVE: By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to demonstrate understanding of a variety of linear and non - linear texts in the form of print and non-print materials using a range of strategies to construct meaning. LEARNING OUTCOMES: By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to articulate the sounds; (ew /oe) and able to say the words (at least 6-8 out of 10 words) correctly. MORAL VALUES: Cooperation, thoughtfulness EDUCATIONAL EMPHASIS: Multiple intelligence INSTRUCTIONAL AIDS: word cards, bean bag, flyswatter, bug word cards PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Pupils already learnt the consonants sounds and know their alphabets. REFERENCES: Textbook and Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah Tahun 2 TEACHING PROCEDURE: STAGE SET INDUCTION (5 mins) INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITY Teacher recalls the previous sounds pupils learnt. Teacher shows flash cards to the class. Development (45 mins) ACTIVITY 1 Phonic Hops and Match Pair work (One pupil hops and another searches and match.) Phonic Hops & Match 1) Pupil tosses the bean bag in one of the hopscotch boxes. 2) Then, hops into the box. Picks a card in the box and articulates the sounds of the word. 3) After that, her/his pair searches for the same word around the Introducing phonemes /ew/ and /oe/. LEARNING ACTIVITY Pupils give feedback. Pupils segment and blend the words shown. Teacher introduce new sounds and gestures for the sound heard.

Word cards paste on the board. 2) The first pupil in each line will hold a fly swatter each. 3) When teacher segment a word, those pupils must listen carefully and run to swat the word they heard. 4) Then they must segment and blend the word they swatted. 5) The pupil that swat first will gain a point for his/her group. Petals Play 1) In pair, pupils segment and blending the words. 2) Teacher guides weaker pair.

Description of : Phonic Hopscotch and Match activity
