Were going to find the value and determine the relationship between a two variables using the formula

of Pearson Product Correlation and Spearman Rho Correlation. So, here is the problem:

You have collected the following scores of the 12 students 25 item test on Music (X) and Math (Y). You are interested in studying the relationship between musical ability and mathematical ability. Compute the appropriate correlation coefficient for the data. Describe the relationship between the two variables.

In Pearson Product Correlation, first, we need to make a table to list all the scores of the 12 students on 25 item test in Music which is the X and Math which is the Y. Here is the formula of Pearson Product Correlation:

For the numerator, substitute the value of the XY then X and Y. For the denominator, substitute the value of the X2 , (X)2 and Y2 , (Y)2. And now solve for the value of rxy.

So, its interpretation is low or slight correlation.

In Spearman Rho Correlation, first, we need to make a table to list all the scores of the 12 students on 25 item test in Music which is the X and Math which is the Y. Next, in Rx rank the scores the students got from highest to lowest ( 1-12) then same also with the RY. After that, find the difference of RX and RY which result to D and squared D to result in D2. Find the summation in column Students, Music, Math and D2.

For the numerator, substitute the value of the D2 . For the denominator, substitute the value of the N3, andN. And now solve for the value of rs.

So, its interpretation is negligible correlation.
