On 11 January 2013, the Pongal day celebration was held in Pavai Arts and Science College for Women

campus for the students and the faculty members. The eventful day began with the eye catching display of the rangolis marking the tradition of the Tamil culture. Students of all the classes exhibited their creative talents and innovative designs by drawing the colourful rangolis. The special event, the making of Pongal, was headed by the Principal with the unanimous help of the faculty members and the students. The echoes of the words 'Pongalo Pongal' kept ringing in and around the campus as the Pongal pot boiled to the brim. The special day was marked by the Pongal pooja which was performed in the presence of the Chairman and the Correspondent of the Paavai Institutions. Staff members and the Students created a mystic feel by singing bhajans after the pooja. It was followed by students performing the folk dances of Tamil Nadu namely, Karagattam, Kummi, Kolattam and Oyilattam. The dignitaries and the audience enjoyed the cultural programme. The dignitaries blessed the students and the staff members and the day came to an end with the distribution of sweet Pongal.
