Analysis Questions: 1: What are the names of the species used in this experiment? Which of these species was the most tolerant of increased acidity in the aquarium? Which species was the least tolerant? The species were Aquatic Earthworm, Fairy Shrimp and Crayfish. The most tolerant was aquatic earthworm while the least tolerant was crayfish 2: Describe how acid precipitation affects ecosystems. When acid participates it gets into water bodies and affects aquatic animals even so kill them. 3: What is an indicator species? How are indicator species used to assess pollution levels in the environment? Indicator species are species that show abnormal behaviors as an reaction to pollution or other things. It can help us because when we see the negative effects we can do something to make it stop/less harmful to different species. 4: Suppose you are an ecologist studying the effects of acid precipitation of plant life. Describe an experiment you would perform in order to determine which plant species would be an useful indicator species for acid rain pollution. I would conduct the same experiment like the one above but I would use a variety of plant species in different PH levels and the plant is least tolerant will be the indicator for acid rain pollution 5: How do the data represented on the Population Bar Graph compare to the data represented in the line graph titled, Populations of Aquatic Invertebrates at Various pH Levels? Both graphs represent the same thing which is the reaction of different species of aquatic invertebrates in different PH levels.
