By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

(P) Demonstrate a proper backhand and forehand block shot 10 out of 10 times during the first two activities. (NASPE #1; MA CF # 2.17; Task/Activity # 1-3) (C) Explain both the purpose of the block shot and when they should use each block shot with 100% accuracy when asked to by the teacher (NASPE # 2; MA CF #2.17; Task/Activity Closure) (A) Respect each of their classmates and work well with their partner for the entire lesson(NASPE # 5; MA CF #2.26 ; Task/Activity #1-3) Check each objective is it specific? Is it achievable? Is it developmentally appropriate? Teacher Performance Objectives During the lesson the teacher will: 1. Demonstrate each activity 2. SEQUENCE OF LESSON
Students will enter the locker room and get changed and prepare for class. Introduction: Warm- Up: Students will perform their routine warm- up 2 minute jog 10 Push-Ups 10 Crunches Introduction: Teacher will discuss the focus of the day, start and stop signals, safety and questions. 1. Hello My name is Ms. G. 2. Start and stop signals: Whistle 3. Safety: Be aware of swinging your paddle; be aware of balls on the ground. 4. Focus of the lesson: Block Shot 5. Questions: In what situation do you think the block shot is used in? Transition: Students will pick a partner that they work well with and stand across from them on the table. (4 per table) They will have 15 seconds to complete this. Activity #1: T will demonstrate the backhand

block shot. Students will work with a partner on the backhand block shot. Meet the ball shortly after the bounce Use a closed-face paddle(flat surface horizontal to chest) Shortforward/horizontal motion of the arm Students will practice this with a partner that is directly across from them on the table. One student will serve the ball over the net and the other will use their backhand block shot to return it. One student will practice for 2 minutes and then when I say switch they will switch roles. Transition: Students will gather around table 1 for a demonstration then return to their table for Activity #2 Activity #2: Students will now work on the forehand block shot. Meet the ball shortly after the bounce Use a closed face paddle Keep arm straightened and away from the body Students will return to their table and practice

the forehand backhand with the same partner. One student will serve the ball over the net while the other returns it using the forehand block shot. One student will practice for 2 minutes then when I say switch. They will switch roles. Transition: Students will place their paddles and ball on their table and gather around table #1. They will have 10 seconds to do so. Activity #3: Students will now have a target. Their partner will serve them the ball 10 times. On each of the serves the receiver must use either a forehand block shot or a backhand block shot and return the ball inside the area marked off with tape by the teacher. Each student will count in their head how many times out of 10 they were able to return the ball inside the target. Once they are done, they can start again and try to beat their score from the last round. Activity #4: Students will use both block shots in a game situation.

Each Ss will now be on the same TSSSS side of the table as SS SS their partner S S S S T will explain the rules. Ss will play a game of doubles Ss will keep the score using rally scoring. Ss will play a game to 21, if they finish they may start a new game. Transition: students will collect the paddles and all of the table tennis balls and return the to the bag, and then gather around the teacher. They have 30 seconds to do so. Closure: Students will be asked what kind of shot a block shot is used for? Defense Students will be asked at what point of the bounce should they use the block shot? Directly after it hits the table. -Students will Return to locker room to change.
