Transforming Learning Objectives: Event Coordinator

Discussion/Reflection: As a person working in adult education, computer literacy courses, there are a wide variety of standardsand the Ohio Department of Education has little to say on standards for the adults in career enhancement courses. A number of years ago, I was researching standards in hopes of developing a fulltime computer courseperhaps incorporating some of the current coursesand was shocked by the lack of consistency. I dont remember how I ran into the website, but it wasnt until a few years later where I was somewhat reassured that the standards outlined by ISTE were, at least, not a bad starting point. (http://www.iste.org/standards/nets-for-students/nets-student-standards-2007.aspx) Having had quite a few instructional design courses, teaching and learning courses and a great deal of support to put into practice what Ive learned, or had reinforced, I am still a bit frustrated with the lack of consistency in adult education with respect to computer literacy and still rely on the ISTE, NET-S, Standards for Advancing Digital Learning while also realizing those standards are aimed at the K-12 category of students. As I've shared in previous posts, when I start a class, it is usually to answer a question or request--so "backward design" is, and will continue to be, my approach. With that said, Ive aligned lesson and curriculum plans with those standards as well as I can to have at least something, not just my opinion informed by my practical experience. This week, Ive selected a lesson planin the format of the NTEQ (Integrating Technology through Inquiry) planto see how the transformation of learning objectives goes. I have attached the entire lesson plan for your reviewthe NET-S standards are on page five. After reviewing Blooms Taxonomy, the WIDA PowerPoint presentation and new PowerPoint on the Standards (Thank YOU, Dr. Bell!), along with my instructional design notes, I still found myself leaning heavily on Table 2.4 to help me start thinking in terms of levels. As to whether I am approaching the right ideanot sure yetand Ill look forward to your feedback. This is the first draft of the learning (procedure) objectives from the Flom-Event Coordinator Lesson Plan. Each objective in the existing plan has been listed separately with possible ELL Learning Objectives, by level, listed below.
