Class Activities: Jigsaw Club Swings Brief Description: After a brief introduction of a golf hole and rules, each group of students will be assigned a golf stroke using a different club (driver, long iron/wood, short iron, putter) and will need to review and learn their stroke. Once they have understood their stroke, they must work together on a way to teach the rest of the class their clubs swing. Students will be given a criteria sheet and information sheet to include what must be taught with their swing including grip, position, location on the course and cues to help the students remember a proper swing. The information sheet will guide them through learning their swing. Assessment: I will informally assess the students on their comprehension of the criteria given and their proper swing by observing the class throughout the lesson. I will ask questions such as Should my arms bend at this part of the swing? and Would I use this shot in the rough? Why? crossing from one side to the other. Class Activities: Jigsaw teaching the drive shot Brief Description: The driver group will teach the drive and its use in golf. The group will have one activity to reinforce the drive stroke with additional review and driving practice done by the groups with team assisted instruction. One student from each group will be responsible for a different component of each swing to ensure that each individual comprehends the stroke. bag while it is still in the air. Class Activities: Jigsaw teaching the long iron/wood shot Brief Description: The long iron group will teach their swing and its use in golf. The group will have one activity to reinforce the stroke with additional review and swing practice with team assisted instruction after their presentation.

Assessment: I will formally assess the driver group and use a checklist to see if they followed all the requirements given to them previously to teach the class a proper drive. I will informally assess and observe the rest of the class on their strokes and assist when needed.

Students will keep their previous roles on each swing and continue their responsibility to follow the criteria listed. Assessment: I will informally assess the groups for social interaction and group progress. I will ask questions such as Why is this club focused on for your group? Do you feel confident on this swing? Why?

Criteria for jigsaw presentations: 3 cues for a proper swing must be mentioned. When is this swing used on a course? Why? (This can relate to the shape of your club). What etiquette is associated with your club? (For example, does your partner stand behind you when you swing?) Create one activity that incorporates your swing for the class. Team Assisted Instruction: Students will be given individual responsibilities to ensure their team has a proper stroke for each club; this includes grip and arm placement, controlled pace of swing in back swing and follow through, rotation of body including torso and pivot foot, and stationary head and foot. (Overall any cue listed in the jigsaw lessons that could encompass these checkpoints as well.) These will slightly modify for putting which would include a stationary body and slower, shorter stroke that doesnt include a follow through with the entire body. Rotation of responsibility for scoring will also occur.
