Generic Name: Bambuterol HCl


Indication: Bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema and other lung diseases
where bronchospasm is a complicating factor
Drug Classification: Antiasthmatic and COPD preparation
Mechanism of Action: relax airway smooth muscle and inhibit release of some
bronchoconstricting substances from mast cells. It may also inhibit
microvascular leakage and increase mucociliary transport by increasing
ciliary activity or by affecting the composition of mucous secretions.
Likeother beta agonists it stimulates adenylyl cyclase and increase
formation of cAMP in the airway tissues
Dosage: Tab 10 mg once daily, may be increased to 20 mg once daily after 1-2 wk. Oral
solution Children 6-12 yr initially 5 mg, may be increased after 1-2 wk. Doses
>10 mg are not recommended in Oriental Children. Children 2-5 yr 5 mg once
daily
Special Precaution: Hepatic and Renal impairment. Hyperthyroidism, Diabetes,
Pregnancy.
Pregnancy Risk Category: C
Adverse Reaction: Tremor, headache, tonic muscle cramps, palpitations.
Contraindications: This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of
its ingredients.
Form: Tablet 10 mg
Solution 1 mg/mL
Nursing Responsibility:
 Patients with diabetes should monitor their blood sugar more carefully
when starting treatment with this medicine, as it may increase blood sugar
levels. If the diabetes treatment becomes less effective. This medicine
should be taken at bedtime.
