Team building middle school PE! 1. Analysis of Learners! 1.1. General Characteristics: Denver Colorado is a beautiful place this time of the year. MidDenver Middle school has a pretty diverse group of students. I am teaching in an urban setting. My male to female ratio is about a perfect split at 47% male and 53% female. I have two students that stick out to me the most though. Jamari who come from a rough home setting but is a very passionate and caring person. He has a few anger problem, when people come at him like they are attacking him he will shut down or he will ght back. The hard part about Jamari is you can tell he doesn't have anyone in his corner routing for him, so I make sure he knows that I am here for him and I want to help. Another student I have in my class is Chloe she is a very bright girl and a very high spirited individual. She is also wheel chair bound, she was in a snowboarding accident and is paralyzed from the waist down. Chloe was a girl who took advantage of all the great resources that our great state has to offer. She loves to try everything and to be involved but you can see she get frustrated when it comes to some of the sports because she can't participate as well as she could before the accident. I am teaching in a middle school but grades 7-8 so my kids are from 12-14 years old. I have a very wide range of maturity levels in my classes. For the most part their attitudes in my class are good. I have the select few that do not like to participate in class but overall many of them just like the break from sitting in a chair. The state of Colorado is the most active state in the US. I want to make sure that the youth of this great state can keep that tradition alive. We have so many great resources in this great state to be active. No matter the students I am here to teach them how to become an active person and live a safe and healthy life style.! ! 1.2. Specic Entry Competencies: There is not a lot of pre-existing knowledge needed for this lesson this should be a pretty new game for most students. Blind ball is a game much like hand ball but no one playing can see and they have to listen to there teammates outside of the playing area to navigate. We are doing this to follow up in our team building unit. We are working on communication in this lesson.!

1.3 Chloe is a very bright girl and a very high spirited individual. She is also wheel chair bound, she was in a car accident and is paralyzed from the waist down. She loves to try everything and to be involved but you can see she get frustrated when it comes to some of the sports because she can't participate as well as she could before the accident. She does just ne in her general education classes from the accident she has experiences some new found difculty with remembering things but she is working with her special education teacher in ways to work on it. Her biggest struggle in my class is her lack of mobility and memory when it come to rules. Those are two things we will work on together to help with. She is allowed extra time for reading on her test according to her IEP.!

2. Narrative Overview: Wh are going to be playing a great game called blind ball. Split the students up into two teams, one being offense and other defense. The defense will pick out two people to play defense and one person to play goalie. Offense will pick one player for their team. The boundaries can very depending on how much room you have. We will be using a smaller area due to the connements of the room. The blue tape marks the boundaries. All players on the eld will be blindfolded and will have to navigate by listening to their teammates.

The offensive player will be giving a ball and their mission is to put the ball in the net. The defenses goal is to tackle the offense by touching the offense with two hands. If the offense scores or the defense gets a tackle all players must exchange positions with in their teams. The two teams will both have 10 minutes to score as many points as they can. A fun adaptation for our class could be to place other obstacles like chairs or dummies in the area of play.!

Presentation-SWD the importance of listening by successfully navigating in a game of blind ball by listening to his or her teammates.! ! 5.2.2. Description: We are going to be playing our game of Blind ball we will play a full game as we record our game with our GoPro cameras as well as using the coaches eye app for the IPad. After our game play we will then watch the video to visually see what was going on during the game. This will help our students who learn visually by being able to see exactly what they say and how it may effect someone. I really like this for my student in a wheelchair because those who are not bound in a wheelchair might be be able to understand the complications it takes to move around so we need to communicate in greater detail and sooner. we can not expect the student to move right away so we ned to lead her more. After we have gone through the videos we will get into a discussion. We will discuss the difculties that we faced, how we can x them, what we can do to make it easier, the key characteristics it takes to communicate properly, and how we might adopt these for different learners. the discussion i feel will help seal the learning to the students. I want them to really understand the importance of communication.! ! 5.2.3. Technology: For my technology piece I will be setting up two go-pro cameras that we will be lming the game from different angles. We will also be using the coaches eye app for the IPad to help assess with they communicating. The reason I am using these cameras as my technology piece is because it will be a great way for us to look back and not only see what they things we say can make a person do but also hear what we are saying.! ! 5.2.4. Rationale: The reason why I have chosen to use a cooperative learning style of learning and games is because I want my students to be able to use the new found skills as they learn them. Now I understand not all students learn the same and that is why I have decided to bring in my source of technology. I will be using the Go-Pro cameras as well as coaches eyes so my visual learners can see exactly what is happening with their choice of communication skill. It also helps the auditorial learners. they will be able to listen to what they are saying but also listen to my explanations for why we need to use good communication skills. After we have gone through the videos and the presentation we will then go into a discussion! ! 6. Mock Up: none needed!
