The game software EPROMs (U7, U8) store gameplay functions and game theme. The paytable EPROM (U9) stores the paytable. The security device (SD) is located on an add-on board (MEMEX Board). It provides for copy protection of games and determines available progressive jackpot modes and paytable features (such as CASH FEVER, eMillions, Hot Link, etc.). Important: Games of software level C5.x.x require programming revision F on mainboard PLD-chip U2 (labeled U2-F), to support the security device.
P1
SD
MEMEX Board
The MEMEX board holds the security device (SD), EPROM sockets U10 and U11 and a memory extension. The MEMEX board and the mainboard act as a unit. During a RAM Reset the MEMEX board always has to be installed to the mainboard to clear the memory located on the MEMEX board, too. Important: An exchange of the MEMEX board will require a RAM reset.
10
2. Introduction 2.5.2 Multimedia Board The multimedia board performs graphic and sound calculations. Security relevant routines are not performed on this board. Graphic and sound files and the multimedia operating system are stored on the multimedia software CD in the DVDdrive. Important: Games of software level C5.x.x require BIOS version HBI-STD-1.2.0.20 or higher installed on socket IC27.
2.5.3 Graphic Board VP-11 The graphic board performs graphic calculations and connects to the flat screen display(s) via LVDS cable. The LVDS cable also carries the supply voltage for the display(s). Important: Games of software level C5.x.x require graphic board type VP-11.
2.5.4 Commboard 68k V2.10 (optional) The Atronic commboard 68k provides connection to various online systems (see appendix) and/or to other Atronic gaming machines. System addresses, jackpot addresses and SAS channel allocation is set here. Commboard software EPROMs are located on sockets U34 and U35. C5.x.x commboard software uses 8MBit EPROM chips. The commboard can also act as a progressive jackpot controller. An Atronic Progressive Link (APL) can manage multi-level progressive jackpots without the need of external controller hardware.

Each part of a software set is labeled according to this scheme. When the machine is operating, the software versions can be reviewed by entering the Service Menu or the Audit Menu. The folder "Machine Information / General Machine Settings" lists the EPROM versions. Atronic game EPROMs do always come with an Atronic seal label that lists part number, socket, chip type, naming, checksum and Kobetron value. Removing this label will void the EPROM. Atronic game EPROMs come as a one-time-programmable (OTP-ROM) type.

2.7.2 Prerequisites for Linked Machines If the game is to be set to progressive mode, make sure to meet following prerequisites: An appropriate Security Device (SD) is installed on the mainboard. The Security Device has to match to the game concept. Different Security Devices are available for: Non-progressive mode Progressive mode (standard single level) Atronic Linked Gaming Products An Atronic commboard is installed. Commboard DIP switches S5/1-3 are set to a particular progressive jackpot mode, before the RAM Reset was carried out. Commboard DIP switches S5/6 is set to ON, if communication to an online system is required. SAS address and APL address (if required) are set by means of the commboard rotary switches. Jackpot configuration software Alink Config 3.0.2 is installed on PC or notebook. The device drivers for the Alink Config USB dongle are installed. The Alink Config USB dongle is connected to one of the PC USB ports (the older parallel port dongle does not work with Alink 3.0.x). The device drivers for the USB to serial adapter are installed (only needed if you PC does not feature a serial port). An Atronic PC-Setup serial cable is at hand.

3. RAM Reset
3.RAM Reset
3.1 Overview
Performing a RAM Reset will clear all statistical data and machine settings. After RAM Reset was carried out, the Initial Setup will start automatically, allowing to configure machine's basic settings. Changing the progressive jackpot configuration also requires a RAM Reset. Important: Configure commboard DIP settings before performing the RAM Reset! Connect all peripheral hardware (bill acceptor, printer, etc) before performing the RAM Reset! Progressive jackpot configuration has to be carried out directly after RAM Reset/Initial Setup, before any game was played.
Following special Atronic EPROMs are needed to perform a RAM Reset. RAM Reset EPROM HMB-RRES01 (p/n 65998561) to reset the mainboard. Install on mainboard socket U9. Commboard Clear EPROMs Q-CB-RAM-CLEAR (p/n 65998560 ) Install on commboard sockets U34/U35. The label on the EPROMs indicates which socket U34/U35 to use.

4. Initial Setup
4. Initial Setup
4.1 Overview
After a RAM Reset, the machine automatically enters the Initial Setup. The Initial Setup is intended to configure basic settings of the machine. These settings can not be changed after the Initial Setup is completed. Any subsequent change of these setting requires a RAM reset and a new Initial Setup.
During Initial Setup a series of menu pages is displayed (see next pages for details). Simply touch the options desired to configure settings. Then touch the NEXT button to proceed to the next page. Use the BACK button to go back to the previous page, if necessary.
Some items require additional input for configuration. Touching the SET button will display an alphanumeric keyboard, a number pad or additional option sets.
After the last setting has been configured, the Initial Setup Summary page is displayed.
Important: Carefully check all settings before you confirm the Initial Setup Summary. The settings can not be changed after confirming the summary.

3.4.2 Progressive Split Information This menu shows the distribution of progressive increments in a multilevel progressive game, when using APL2 (Atronic Progressive Link 2). With APL2 enabled a progressive level can only raise up to the base value of the next higher progressive level. If a progressive level reaches this limit, the incrementing of this level is blocked. The increments of the blocked level are then redistributed to the lowest possible progressive level. Example: The progressive value on level 3 reaches the base value of level 2. The incrementing of level 3 stops. The increments of level 3 are now added to an other level. If possible this will be level 4, as this is the lowest possible level. With 4 progressive levels there are several combinations of blocked and redistributed increments possible. Each combination is metered in a separate split statistic Split 0 to Split 15. The percentage values in the green columns indicate the distribution of increments for this split. Split 0 (all levels incrementing) is the default distribution as defined during jackpot configuration. Note: The base value of a progressive level can be reviewed in menu 3.4.5 Jackpot Statistics. Note: Jackpot level 1 is the highest level (highest amount). Jackpot level 4 is the lowest level.
When a blocked progressive level was hit, the incrementing is unblocked and starts again.
