Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact Rationale/Reflection InTASC Standard:

Standard #10 Leadership and Collaboration The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for student learning, to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth, and to advance the profession (Council of Chief State School Offices, 2013).

Brief Description of Evidence:


As part of my Technology in Education course during the summer semester of 2013, I collaborated with four other students to develop a classroom of the future that would create an engaging student learning environment that would ensure each student to grow educationally. Through our collaboration we were able to deliver a presentation that showcased the involvement of community through the use of local businesses to purchase supplies. As each part of our team worked together we were able to establish leadership roles between us and were able to promote professionalism.

Analysis of What I Learned:


Through the completion of the classroom of the future I was able to develop collaboration skills as I worked with my peers and divided up responsibilities. In working on the group project I have learned the value of working with others for a common goal. Not only was I worried about how everything would be completed, I was also worried about my role in doing so. I feel that the added pressure of doing well on the assignment made me want to succeed more. In talking to each of my classmates I learned what each had to give to the project, and any further projects I may have in the future. As a future teacher I have learned that there are many I can glean information from to better the learning environment for my future students.

How This Artifact demonstrates my Competence on the InTASC Standard:


I have shown my competency in seeking leadership roles through working with peers to develop a classroom of the future. With collaboration throughout the project I was able to look for opportunities to take responsibility through completing my part of the group project. Through the collaboration with the learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members I will be able to ensure learner growth. Through success in learner growth I will be able to further my skills and advance the profession through the same connections.
