After going over the sections from the book Alexander Graham Bell Inventor of the Telephone and watching the brain pop SWBAT write two sentences about what telephones were like back when they were created and how the telephone is different today 3 out of 4 times. You must state this goal at the beginning of the lesson): Today we are going to think like inventors and lean all about the telephone! I know that we all know about the telephone! What is a telephone? What does it do? I want you to take out your cell phone if you have one?

Go over the I can statements Do you know who invented the telephone? What does the word inventor mean again? Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone What do you think his telephone looked like? Does it look like the ones we have today? Read section out of Times Kids book about Alexander Graham Bell Then watch video about Alexander Graham Bell Go over what patent and device are Once video is over student will be given a Venn diagram We will look at pictures of phones as the have developed over time Together as a class we will compare and contrast how the telephone was back when it was created and the telephone that we have today Once we are done filling out the Venn diagram student will be have to write two sentences about Alexander Graham Bell including one fact in each sentence and 2 sentences about what the telephone was like back when it was created and 2 sentences about how it is different today.

Review of Objective and learning that has occurred during this lesson; Connection to future learning: Today we learned about Alexander Graham Bell. What did he do again? We learn a lot about his life to help us understand how it has changed our life. The invention of the telephone was an invention that changed the world.
