I designed the Alchemist Project Proposal and the attached rubric as a culminating project for a novel study of The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. This culminating project was done with a Grade 11 University class in Essex District High School under the guidance of Ms. Katie Hahn. It appeals to student choice, different learning styles and students strengths and interests. It uses differentiated instruction and allows for students to showcase their creativity. It gives students the opportunity to display their work in a fair setting and invites parents to come in and get involved in their childrens learning. These teaching materials reflect my professional knowledge of popular teaching methods and strategies, and show my continued commitment to students educational success.
