Subject Area: Social Studies, Geography, Math Grade Level: 8th

Description: The student will use the Arounder application to locate an area of interest to plan a vacation. Once they have found their location, the students will use the application to collect information on hotels, eateries, and tourist attractions. The students will research the estimated costs of dining establishments, hotels, and activities. Once the student has collected their information, they will design a project using PowerPoint or Prezi including all of their collected information. The end of the presentation will include a budget that outlines the cost of the entire trip. Time: One week (5 days) Procedure: The students will be given 5 school days to begin researching and constructing their presentations in the computer lab. They will be allowed to use smart their smart phones to download the Arounder application to help them pick a location for their dream vacations. They will also use computers to help them research and organize their collected information. Once they have gathered their information that includes costs of the trip, activities, eateries, etc., they will organize their information into presentation form by using PowerPoint or Prezi. They will be given a minimum of five minutes to present and a maximum of seven minutes.

Assessment: The students will be assessed by meeting or failing to meet the requirements on their presentation (organization, information, costs, timing, etc).

Benefits: This project will greatly benefit students in their abilities to thoroughly research a location and calculate projected costs of taking a trip to a specific location. The students will have a greater understanding of researching information from a variety of web pages as well as plugging their information into a well organized research presentation.
