Purpose cont.

Currently, there is only a DVD administration and instruction manual Helpful for students who have not had prior experience with these tests to grasp the idea of how these tests will be like when they participate in them Homework assignments & outside practice

PACER Test

Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run Its the default aerobic capacity test Aerobic tests are considered to be one of the most important fitness tests
Why? High

levels of aerobic capacity =

Reduced

risk of high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, obesity, diabetes, some forms of cancer, etc.

PACER Test cont.

Aerobic capacity is measured relative to body weight

Due

to individual differences in body size

Along with administration of PACER, weight and height of students need to be recorded Equipment needed:
Stereo

Cones

to designate 20-meter difference Tape or chalk to mark lines at each end of course

PACER TEST QR Code Use

Test objective:
To

run as long as possible with continuous movement back and forth across a 20-meter space at a specified pace that gets faster each minute Foot must reach line before beep Failure to miss the line counts as 1 miss
2

misses = student must stop the test

QR Code Use:
Can be scanned with class iPad to remember specific cues and directions and listen to the pace of the audio.

Push-up Test

Test to show upper body strength Task

Perform

pushups to a cadence until you physically cannot do any more pushups. The cadence is 20 push-ups per minute or 1 pushup every 3 seconds.

Push-up Test
QR code use:
QR code will be posted at the push-up station during FITNESSGRAM practice station. QR code can be scanned with class iPad to remember specific cues and directions, such as: In the down position-90 degree elbow angle. In the up position-arms fully extended. Body Flat. Pushup to the cadence. You will be allowed one correction of the list above. Failure the second time will immediately stop the test.

Curl-up Test

Measures students core strength and endurance Students start on back, lift body with core and move arms forward Tape calls out cues to go up and down Maximum score of 75

Sit & Reach Test

Measures the flexibility of hamstring muscles individually for each leg Moderate to high correlation of flexibility Equipment:
12

in high box and yardstick with zero end facing towards student

Sit & Reach Test Administration

Sit & Reach must be done for both legs while barefoot
One

leg is bent, but this legs foot must still remain flat on the ground The straight leg must fully extend with foot against box

Hands must reach forward evenly (on top of one another) and reach four times, with measurement at fourth forward reach After this measurement, student switches legs and repeats the test

Trunk Lift

A test of trunk extensor strength and flexibility because of its relationship to low back health, especially vertebral alignment.
Test

Objective: To lift the upper body off the floor using the muscles of the back and hold the position to allow for the measurement.

Trunk Lift cont.

Use of QR code:
QR

code will be posted at station during FITNESSGRAM practice station. QR code can be scanned with class iPad to remember specific cues and directions, such as:
Lay

in prone position. Point toes and place hands under thighs. Maintain focus on coin marker. Place ruler at least an inch from participants head. Return to a starting position with controlled movements.

Skinfold Test

Common way to determine body fat composition It is the easiest, fastest, and cheapest method to obtain accurate results Using this test participants can find their composition and compare to standardized measurements

Skinfold Test cont.

Results are found by the layers of adipose tissue beneath the skin without including muscle The readings are in millimeters and are to be performed at least twice for more accurate averaged results

There are seven main skinfold sites that are measured: tricep, bicep, subscap, supraspinale, abdominal, thigh, and calf

Skinfold Test cont.

This is an example of how the standardized measurement chart may appear
