Doubles Doubles Strategy Discuss what is meant by the world double. Talk about rolling doubles in dice and how do you know its a double. Discuss ways to double (count all the dots on the both dice, start with one dice and then count on, or add both numbers in your head. Play IWB game: http://www.ictgames.com/robindoubles.html Use a deck of cards. Choose a card , record the number, double and record result in table. Differentiate using Ace to 6 for lower group, and full set of cards for higher group. Children roll a dice, record the number rolled and double it and record the result in a table. Differentiate using different dice for different groups. Use 6 side dice with dots for children who are not counting on and numeral dice for children who do count on. Ext can use 10 sided dice or 12 sided dice

Doubles plus one Same as yesterday using dice. Children who are successfully doubling can advance to doubles plus one. Those who need review can continue doubling

January.Feb.etc Create a class birthday graph showing birthday months. If time allows children can create an individual copy of graphs or a table

Revisit class birthday graph. Create a new graph or table to show which season each childs birthday is in. Create a class book where each child has a page for their birthday and draws a picture to show what the weather would be like and what they might do on their birthday. Use a different colour paper for each season. Book is bound and laminated and put in book corner.
