"Song of Myself"

I sing the song of myself, Of achievements reached and failed, Of this journey we call life.

I sing the song of things past, Of my ancestors and their kin, Of journeys ended and new lives began.

I sing the song of things present, Of everything I see and am, Everything I think and feel.

I sing the song of things future, Of journeys yet to come, Of what I aspire to be.

I sing the song of nature, Of fallen leaves, babbling brooks, Of the birdsong and the cawing of crows.

I sing the song of man, Of sweat and blood and metallic tang,

Of death- knells and the barbaric yawp.

I sing the song of spirit, Of the everlasting soul. Of the peace and serenity it brings.

I sing the song of myself, Of the embodiment of this dichotomy, Of this harmony within me.
