TEACHINGANDRESEARCHINTERESTS: To date I have taught various courses in Graphic Design, Marketing, and Information Technology and I would like to continueonthatpath.However,mypreferenceliesinthefieldsofMarketingandGraphicDesign.Iwouldliketoexplore: HowGraphicDesignimpactscitizensofJamaicaandtheCaribbeanRegion Developingteachingtechniquesspecificallyfordesignstudents Howwecanusecreativetechniquestomotivatestudentswiththeireducationalpursuits What is the cause of the disparity between young children who are naturally curiousabouttheworldaroundthem andwhentheygettothetertiaryleveltheyhavenointerestinlearning WhatmarketingtechniqueswouldapplytotheJamaicaneconomyandtheCaribbeantoafurtherextent BIOGRAPHY: Chevonnese Chevers Whyteisnotypicalindividual. Ordinary,amongthemasses,andaverage arewordsthatcertainlydoes not describe her character. What makes Chevonnese different from the pack is her ability to integrate into whatever environmentinwhichsheisplaced.
She can often be founddefiningherself by twosubjects: MathematicsandArt. Thesesubjectsnot onlydescribeher chosen career path, they also describe her personality logical and creative. As a logicalthinkeryouwillfindhergravitatingtothe sciences. Thereisjustsomethingaboutseeingaproblemandusingsciencetosolvethatproblem. Itwasonlynaturalthat she had a drive to pursue courses in Computer Science, Programming, Website Development, and Mathematics. However, her artistic side oftenbeckons. Design is another way of solving a problem that exists. So she pursued courses in Art, ComputerGraphics,VideoProduction,andAnimation. But Chevonnese is more than just logical and creative. She also has personality. You mustbe a little crazyto be a true artist. If an artist says thathesnotcrazy,heseithernot anartistoranartistwhoistryingtodenywhoheis. Chevonnese Chevers Whyte lives a modified motto from her alma mater Wolmers High SchoolforGirlsEverythingyoudo,doittothe best of your ability, and enjoy it while doing it. In the classroom you will findananimatedengagingindividual. Atformal events, you will find acalmandcomposedindividualwithengagingconversation. Inacasualsetting sheis oftentheperson ensuring thateveryoneelseishavingagoodtimeoratleastnotneglected. Chevonneseembraceswhosheis. Muchlikeher name,sheisweird,butweirdandcrazyinagoodway. Upon viewing her educational background it may seem as thoughsheisonaquesttolearnmore. Thisistrue. Chevonnese revels in the fact that there are other opportunities to expand her knowledge in the field of Design. It was at St. Theresas PreparatorySchool where she first found her love for Art and tothisday,inabox,insomedark corner,aredoodlesthatshe hascreatedinher youngerdays. ItwasattheprestigiousWolmersHighSchoolforGirlswhereChevonnese trulyembraced Art. Originally, her intention was to pursue a career in Acturial Science at the University of the West Indies (UWI), but ComputerSciencederailedthatdream. AfterleavingUWIshe pursuedasmanycoursesasshe couldfindonGraphicDesign. Eventually she completed her Masters in Business Administration inMarketing,becauseforher,itwasthe nextlogicalstep. All three disciplines have molded her to be the young professionalthat she is today. It may seem like Computer Science, Graphic Design, and Marketingareunrelated,butforChevonnese,theyaremorerelatedthanyouknow. Allthreedisciplines satisfyherleftandrightbrainendeavours. Chevonnese was always an educator. Since high school she tutored her fellow Wolmerians and even during her time as a working professional. Shealways resisted beingan educatoreventhoughsheisfroman educationalfamily:Mother, Father, Husband. It was not until she attended Mona School of Business, where upon completing a shortened version of the MyersBriggs Type Indicator, Chevonnese discovered that she is an ENTJ someone whoenjoyslearning andsharing that knowledge. Her past experiences and the personality test made it clear that she should pursue a career in education. And isntthatwhattheclassroomneeds,anindividualwhohasaworldofexperiencewholovestoteach?
