Were you able to teach the lesson in the allotted time? Why or why not? How did you use the cooperating teachers expertise in planning this lesson? choose my objectives according to the common core standards but also connected them to the class theme. choose annotation because thought it would help students analy!e the poetry and would be especially helpful for poems that have symbolism and metaphorical meaning. was able to teach the lesson in the allotted amount of time and although the students were to read and annotate the poems for homewor"# most did not understand the poems and had to spend the majority of class time pic"ing apart each poem with the class. $y cooperating teacher did not give me much advice on the lesson and it was the first poetry lesson of the year for the students. *lassroom en#ironment: How did you encourage student participation? What strategies did you use to manage and monitor student behavior? Evaluate your interactions with the students and their interactions with each other. allowed the students to volunteer to answer %uestions and when saw the same hands going up# used a name chart to randomly choose students. f a student did not "now an answer or was not sure# as"ed probing %uestions to get them thin"ing and able to answer the %uestion. should have wal"ed around the classroom more and not spend too much time with one group. definitely have to wor" on my classroom management s"ills and need to be aware of what all students are doing. thin" my interactions with the students were professional and the students interactions within their groups did not wor" out well because had way too many "ids in one group. ,nstr$ction: Explain how you taught this lesson to meet your objectives. thin"# and the students agreed# that going over all ' poems in depth as a class was helpful in understanding the meaning of the poems. (y my as"ing %uestions# the students were able to connect the poems to their class theme. found it difficult for the students to find metaphors in the poems and the groups they were in were not very effective# even with the wor"sheets made for them. would change the group si!e in this lesson and have a proceeding lesson about metaphor and other literary elements in poetry. would also change up the poems to something the students would li"e better and be able to relate to# possibly song lyrics. would also wor" on my classroom management s"ills.
