Stage 1- Key Design Elements Understandings


How to apply the 3R modelreduce, reuse, and recycle. The impact humans have on their environment and what drives that impact. How consumerism relates to the environment and how we could make changes to help the environment. What actions can be taken to help reduce human impact on the environment and why it matters. That taking care of the earth is a world issue.

Essential Questions
Why is it important to help our earth? Why should anyone care? What can we do as individuals to make an impact? Will it even matter? Should governments care about the earth? What should they do to help it? Could the world ever completely go green?

Stage 1- Key Design Elements


Knowledge and Skills
Students will know The 3R model. Different ways to apply the 3R model. Human impact on various ecosystems. Various environmental jobs. How land, air, and water become polluted and what humans roles are in this process

Students will be able to Explain the impact they and other have on the environment. Problem solve in coming up with a way to change impacts on the environment. Convey their ideas about the environment in artistic form. Cite jobs related to natural resources and environmental concerns. Explain environmental laws as well as create their own. Propose a plan for helping the environment. Create art that conveys their understanding of the environment. Apply the 3R model.
