Students will be able to analyze key concepts in both literary works and compare/ contrast them. Instructional Procedures:
Greet the class. Review what class has learned about the Aztecs thus far through discussion. Introduction to Folktales with overhead: -What is a folktale? -Why do we have folktales? Explanation/ Instruction for reading literature: -Background on Aztecs Iztaccihuatl and Brother Grimms Snow White Students will read the two pieces of literature in groups. They will be instructed to write the main ideas and details from each folktale on pieces of construction paper. They will also need to write similarities between the two stories. As a class, we will create a large Venn Diagram by taping the individual pieces of construction paper on the Venn Diagram. There will be a discussion during this process about how we are comparing and contrasting. (Assessment) Review what the goals of the assignment were and check for understanding.
