Community Action Council of Howard County shares your core values and has been privileged to be the recipient of your generous commitment to enhancing Howard County services to low-income families. As a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving those who struggle to make ends meet every day, we depend on the commitment of corporations to community reinvestment in order to accomplish our mission. CACs mission is to provide programs to low-income families in order to alleviate the effects of poverty (such as homelessness, hunger, lack of heat or water) and to promote self-sufficiency through programs that focus on jobs, education, and building assets. CAC administers the Howard County Food Bank which last year served more than 21,000 individuals with approximately 408,000 pounds of food. Two tons of food was grown locally at CACs Community Garden. Approximately half of the food that was distributed to the families was donated to CAC by the community through food drives and other individual donations. The remaining of the food that was distributed was purchased by CAC. We ask that you support our efforts in serving low income families in Howard County. Your financial support could mean tremendously to a family who is hungry, or on the verge of being evicted, or is living in the dark and cold because their electricity has been turned off.
