Optimization of FSW Parameters Using Taguchi Technique

Our project is aimed at optimizing FSW parameters like Rotational speed, Traverse speed, Tilt angle etc through technique known as Taguchi Methods that provide the most optimum parameter in a given range. Why Optimization of FSW through Taguchi?? Need to optimize the weld parameters to improve performance and quality, minimize cost and reduce the time taken so that the process is more competent and is used frequently.

The most important difference between a classical experimental design and a Taguchimethod-based robust design technique is that the former tends to focus solely on the mean of the quality characteristic while the latter considers the minimization of the variance of the characteristic of interest. This basically means that Taguchi method is very accurate and can accommodate more variables to optimize as compared to other processes . The Project consists mainly of the following phases: FSW Weld Samples preparation Specimen Preparation Specimen Testing Specimens result analysis
