Introduction
This project is mainly about Vegetables. The Objectives that are considered in this booklet are: 1. 2. 3. 4. Define what is a Vegetable. List some classifications of Vegetables. State two examples of Vegetables in each classification State some factors to consider when choosing vegetables.

What is a Vegetable?
A vegetable can be defined simply as a plant tissue, with a savoury flavour, that is edible and can be used for food. A vegetable usually contains vitamins and minerals that keeps the body healthy and in good shape. It may be eaten as one or more parts of the plant. Some can even be eaten whole. There are many different vegetables, which have their own distinctive flavour, shape and size. Vegetables are edible when raw, cooked, prepared(seasoned) and mixed with other foods such as meat in salads. Note: The fruit is different from a vegetable. A fruit is defined as the mature ovary of a flowering plant which consists of fleshy edible material surrounding a seed or cluster of seeds.

Classifications of Vegetable
Since there are many kinds of vegetables; vegetables are placed into different classifications. The different Classifications of Vegetables and examples of each are:

Bulb i. Onion

Garlic

Flower i. Broccoli

ii. Cauliflower

Fruit i. Leaf Pod or Seeds Stems Roots Fungi Tubers
