Dear Committee Member: It is with great privilege that I write this Letter of Professional Promise for my classmate, colleague and friend, Christopher Van Drimmelen. I have had the opportunity to engage with Chris in various settings and I am fortunate to have crossed paths with an individual who possess refined skills and a future in Student Affairs leadership. Chris continues to impress me with his integrity, innovation and collaborative leadership style in all areas of his work. Most notably, I have bear witness to the innovative work that Chris contributed to our program. Chris leadership and vision made it possible for Seattle University to host one of the national Student Affairs Technology Unconference series also known as #SATech Unconference. He led a team of six from four institutions to plan, coordinate and execute the event. As a committee member, I was impressed with Chris creativity and keenness in understanding and applying the knowledge and skills from our program to professional practice. He utilized his advantage and experience in technology to spark a wave of conversations and exchange of best practices around a topic that is and will be significant in the work we do with students. In the classroom, Chris brought a unique quality to the academic environment. Chris and I entered the SDA program in 2012 and have been fortunate to take SDAD 577, SDAD 585, EDUC 513, SDAD 575 and recently SDAD 579 with each other. He is an individual with integrity and poise. Chris sets the bar for all of his peers and I believe he will bring his personal flare and professionalism wherever he goes. His enthusiasm and confidence is contagious which ironically reveals his sense of humor and humble spirit. As a fellow classmate, I appreciate Chris ideas and perspectives that he has shared with us. I am certain his strong sense of self and his values will be a relational asset to both students and his future colleagues. Finally, I am grateful to gain insight from conversations and interactions with Chris. He offers a sense of understanding in foundational and current issues in our profession. I trust Chris will continue to grow and develop professionally wherever his path may lead. I know that I have a friend and a colleague that is authentic and cares about serving students. Thank you for your time and I wish Chris the best of luck in his future endeavors. With deep respect,

Bopharuth Cheng
