Food-Medication Interactions
Medication Ramipril Class ACE inhibitor Food Interaction(s) Drug may increase serum potassium levels. Caution with high potassium diet or potassium supplements. Avoid salt substitutes. Ensure adequate fluid intake and hydration Drug is adjunct to diet therapy. Maintain low-dat, low-cholesterol diet for optimal drug effect. Avoid grapefruit and related citrus. Should be taken with caution when using St Jonh's wort. Avoid alcohol. Using together with multivitamin with minerals may decrease effects of drug. Incorporate foods high in vitamin C and folic acid into diet. Monitor electrolytes, hemoglobin to determine need for potassium or iron supplements.

Vitamin D Avoid alcohol. Alcohol may affect the blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes. Both hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia may occur. Psyllium may interact with other medications if given at the same time, causing other medications to become less effective. Take psyllium with at least 8 oz. of cool water or another liquid.
