What to Expect Dealing with First Day Anxiety

Our students respond in many different ways. Some will

come in and push their parents out the door. Others will not let you get out the door. The different responses is very normal and for those that go through the separation anxiety, it can be stressful for the parents. We are ready for anything! Please let us know if this will be your childs first time away from you. Do not sneak out or leave when you think your child is distracted. Give a hug and kiss good-bye so they are reassured you are coming back.

How we Assess and Monitor Progress

We monitor progress daily based on our interactions and observation

of the activities your child is involved. We provide written reports 2 times a year based on those classroom observations. We measure skills by whether or not it is observed, if they have not demonstrated the skill, if they are progressing or if they have achieved the skill. Since we monitor development on a daily basis, we will inform you if we are seeing a regression of skills or social skills that we are working on. You will not be surprised when you get our written report. You can meet with us at any time. We may ask to meet with you if there are any changes that are affecting your childs progress. Minimally, we will meet with you 2 times a year to discuss your childs progress. Important note on your childs classroom assessment we get a snapshot of your childs abilities. If we arent observing some skills here but your child is displaying them at home, please let us know.
