Below are the journal entries in the order that you will complete them: Journal Entry #1 Based on our reading of the introduction of The Outsiders (pages 1-45), explain how Ponyboys personality is shaped by his interactions with greasers and socs? Ponyboys personality is impacted severally between the greasers and socs. One of the major traits Ponyboy has acquired over time is he is more emotional than other greasers. There are countless incidents that have happened over Ponyboys life to shape this trait. One of the moments that showed Ponyboy showing his emotion was when he was talking to Cherry Valance on his way home from the movies. Journal Entry #2 Based on our reading of The Outsiders, persuade your readers whether or not the events that occur during the scene where Johnny and Pony are jumped by the socs is the turning point of the novel or not? When Johnny and Ponyboy jump the socs and kill one of them this is the turning point in the novel for a variety of reasons. This is the changing point in the novel due to numerous shifts in the characters and setting. When Johnny kills the socs they need to leave the city and change the way they act. They change their whole appearance. In conclusion when Johnny killed the boy it is the turning point

Journal Entry #3 Based on our reading of The Outsiders, decide whether or not Cherry Valance is a static (stays the same) or dynamic character (changes significantly), and explain why you believe S.E. Hinton chose to make her this type of character? Cherry Valance is a dynamic character throughout the novel. Throughout the novel Cherry has had mixed emotions for both the greasers and the socs. Cherry only wanted no violence and peace through out the greasers and the socs. An example of Cherry being a dynamic character is when she is a secret spy before the big rumble for the greasers. Another example of cherry being a dynamic character is when she is constantly switching her feelings in between the greasers and the socs. Cherry valance is one of the only dynamic characters in the whole novel. I believe S.E. Hinton made her a dynamic character because it adds a aspect of suspicion to the novel. In conclusion, throughout the novel Cherry Valance is a dynamic character for a variety of different reasons. Journal Entry #4 Based on our reading of The Outsiders, evaluate which character, Johnny or Dally, is the truest example of a hero? Johnny is the truest example of a hero in the book the outsiders. Johnny is more of a hero than Dally because he went into the burning barn to save the little kids. Although Dally did go into the burning barn he only went in to save Johnny, which is not as heroic as Johnny. But you can also argue that Dally was a hero because he tried as hard as he can to help Johnny in the situations he would get in. Another aspect you could argue is that if you come from less, make more bad decisions, and show negative traits in your past and you come up and do a heroic action that you are more heroic than a well rounded person you did a heroic action because it could have taken the person more courage Journal Entry #5 Based on our reading of The Outsiders, evaluate the novels theme of stay gold, and persuade your readers whether it would be a good theme to apply to the lives of Del Mar Middle Students? It is important to stay gold for a variety of different reasons. Staying gold has several meanings. In my eyes staying gold means to be as kind as possible. Staying gold is
