Scientific Method
The scientific method is an orderly process that entails recognition and definition of a problem, formulation of hypotheses, collection and analysis of data, and statement of conclusions regarding confirmation or disconfirmation of the hypotheses.

Quantitative Research is the collection and analysis of numerical data to explain, predict, and/or control phenomena of interest. Qualitative Research is the collection, analysis, and interpretation of comprehensive narrative and visual (nonnumeric) data to gain insights into a particular phenomenon of interest. Mixed method research is research in which the researcher uses the qualitative research paradigm for one phase of a research study and the quantitative research paradigm for another phase of the study.

Quantitative Research Statistics is the study of collection, organization, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data. Descriptive statistics Inferential Statistics

Descriptive Statistics
Descriptive statistics are methods for organizing (frequency table), representing (graphs) and summarizing data (central tendency and variability).

Frequency Distributions
One method for simplifying and organizing data is to construct a frequency distribution. A frequency distribution is an organized tabulation showing exactly how many individuals are located in each category on the scale of measurement.

Central Tendency
In general terms, central tendency (mean, median, and mode) is a statistical measure that determines a single value that accurately describes the center of the distribution and represents the entire distribution of scores. The goal of central tendency is to identify the single value that is the best representative for the entire set of data.

Variability
The goal for variability (range, standard deviation, and variance) is to obtain a measure of how spread out the scores are in a distribution. A measure of variability usually accompanies a measure of central tendency as basic descriptive statistics for a set of scores.
